Gambian President Claims to Cure 68 HIV Patients using Herbs

For many years, scientists and researchers across the world have been trying to find a cure for one of the world’s deadliest virus, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Although these scientists say there is yet no cure for HIV and AIDS, traditional medicine practitioners have made several claims to finding the cure.

One of them who is generating some buzz on the international scene is the Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh.

He claims to have cured 68 patients who had HIV/AIDS in varying degrees using his secret concoction of boiled herbs. In 2007, he first announced that he had found a natural remedy to cure AIDS, stirring anger among Western medical experts who claimed he was giving false hope to the sick.

YIPEE - Ailing Nigeria's First Lady To Return Home

A presidential jet is scheduled to fly out of Abuja tonight to bring home ailing Nigeria's First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.
Presidency sources told SaharaReporters today that Mrs. Jonathan will return to the country as early as tomorrow if everything works as planned.
Mrs. Jonathan was secretly flown out of Abuja nearly six weeks ago, at the end of August, after she developed complications from a cosmetic procedure she had undertaken in Dubai.
Upon returning to Nigeria from Dubai, she was flown out to Germany in an air ambulance following an emergency which was initially diagnosed as "food poisoning."   Several investigations by SaharaReporters however revealed that her medical condition was more complicated and precarious.  Among others, in the early stages she lost her power of speech for four days.

In Tyler Perry‘s movie, Why Did I Get Married, there was a character  called Angela, played by Tasha Smith.  Angela was a crazy woman. She and her husband, Marcus, were ALWAYS fighting and when the other guys asked him how he coped with all that energy, he responded that the make up sex was worth it.

I’ve never really understood physical abuse of any kind: not by men and I definitely can’t wrap my head around the idea of a physically abusive woman. I mean women are supposedly the ‘weaker’ gender and it shouldn’t be physiologically possible that anybody should get a beat down from a woman.

A few years ago, a colleague came to work looking completely disheveled. Upon further inquiry he revealed that he had come from the hospital. He and his girlfriend had fought that morning. “Ah! Ogbeni, you’re a woman beater. You beat your babe?” Then he said “She has been doing it and doing it but today when she brought out the belt to hit me and I saw the buckle heading towards my face I decided to defend myself. Besides, this isn’t the first time she has been doing it, but because I’m a guy and I know how it would be if I raise my hands against her. This isn’t the first time it’s happening.She has just been getting away with it”

Ini Edo’s pregnancy has recently become a controversial issue when pictures of the talented actress taken at recent events she attends shows a ‘table flat’ tummy. Following Police investigations into the killing of about 46 students of Federal Polytechnic Mubi in Adamawa State by alleged unknown gunmen or cultists last week, Vanguard can report authoritatively that the killings were perpetrated by an Islamic sect and that masterminds of the gruesome massacre were three students of the polytechnic and one student of the Adamawa State University, Yola.
Police sources in Abuja disclosed to Vanguard yesterday that 30 suspects had so far been arrested in connection with the massacre and among them are 12 confirmed members of Boko Haram and the four students who have also been confirmed to be members of the dreaded Islamic sect. Horror! Mom Glues 2 Year Old Daughter To Wall, Beats Her Into A Coma

Injured Baby……

A mother who admitted that she glued her toddler’s hands to a wall and beat her to a coma faces a sentencing hearing today in a Dallas courtroom. Elizabeth Escalona, 23, pleaded guilty to injury to a child in July. She faces up to life in prison for her crimes but is also eligible for deferred adjudication probation.

 State District Judge Larry Mitchell will decide her sentence following testimony at the Frank Crowley Courts Building.

Police say she was frustrated with 2-year-old Jocelyn Cedillo because of a “potty training issue.” Besides using super glue to stick her to the wall at their Love Field-area apartment, she also kicked her in the stomach and hit her with a milk jug.

The abuse in September 2011 left the little girl in a coma for two days at Children’s Medical Center, with extensive bruising, brain swelling, fractured bones, swollen intestines, bruised lungs and an injured liver.

Wife of the Osun State house of Assembly Speaker abducted

Wife of the Osun State house of Assembly Speaker, Hon.Najeem Salaam has been kidnapped yesterday at Ejigbo, Osun State by some unknown gunmen.

She was abducted along Union Baptist Road in the Oke-Oyo area of Ejigbo, the Speaker’s hometown on her way home after closing her shop where she sells bags of food items.

Muibat’s Honda salon car was said to be forced to a halt  and she was dragged into a waiting car before the unknown gunmen numbering about six drove off with speed.

Responding to this development, Mr Femi Fafiyebi,Chairman, Osun State House Committee on Regional Integration and Special Duties, confirmed this saying the news was “disheartening and shocking”. He said,“I just heard about it a few minutes ago. Osun is a very peaceful state. We are the only state that checked flooding and created the most enabling environment in the south-west. I don’t know why this should happen in our dear state”.

We were not able to get across to the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Sade Odoro to confirm and comment on the abduction as her phones were switched off.

Man dies after winning cockroach-eating competition - EWWWWW DISGUSTING

Edward Archbold, 32 died after winning a cockroach-eating competition in Florida. He took ill within minutes of winning the competition and died some minutes later.

Archbold defeated 30 other people to win the competition whose grand prize was a python. Under normal conditions, cockroaches are not poisonous. Unless the cockroaches were contaminated with bacteria or other pathogen, he was not supposed to die.

The autopsy is still underway.

Michael Adams, professor of entomology said “Unless the roaches were contaminated with some bacteria or other pathogens, I don’t think that cockroaches would be unsafe to eat,”

Veteran actress Joke Silva and rapper Jude Abaga have been drafted as goodwill ambassadors for the UN office on drugs and crime, UNODC.

The pair were decorated on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Abuja, during the launch of the ‘I am Priceless’ campaign against human trafficking and smuggling of migrants into the country.

Speaking on the appointment, the UN resident coordinator, Angela Atangana disclosed that the campaign was sponsored by the EU and NAPTIP (National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons) and aimed at  drawing attention to the many ills in the society.

She added that the entertainment industry has a role to play in the correction of certain ills, hence their decision to select the duo to help with the campaign.

While Silva will  be the goodwill ambassador against human trafficking, M.I will be the goodwill ambassador against smuggling of migrants. The campaign will span a period of three years and it will be implemented in Lagos, Edo, Benue,  Anambra, Cross-river, Niger and the FCT.

Nigeria & United Kingdom to Swap Prison Inmates

Nigeria and the United Kingdom have reached an understanding to begin a prison swap programme. This would be launched as soon as Nigeria signs its Prison Act into law.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Dahiru Tambuwal said this on Monday at the flag-off of 2012 prison audit by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Kuje Prison.

The Senator said funds for the programme, which the United Kingdom is willing to provide, would be used to renovate prisons so as to make the facilities habitable enough and kept at least to meet minimum world standard to accommodate inmates. The United Kingdom, he added, has promised to provide money to fund the process of prison inmates’ exchange.

Senator Tambuwal said that the Bill seeking the amendment of the Prison Act has gone through the second reading and would be finally passed by the senate in two weeks, after which the Prison swap process can begin.
