Cristiano Ronaldo voted ‘Sexiest Player of the Year’

 

Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, was named “The Sexiest Player of the Year” of People magazine and he was the only football player in the top ten.

After all the not so cheering incidence that has been happening to CR7 lately in the game of football, his Club, Real Madrid are eight points behind the table leaders Barcelona, their old rival, on the scoreboard of La Liga and the Portuguese national team got a draw with Gabon in friendly match this week. To make matters worse, Cristiano Ronaldo got an injury in eyebrow bone after an horrible clash with Levante Defender in last league game and he had been suspended to receive treatment for the present.

Omawumi talks about her daughter, ‘kokoma’ and ‘bottom belle’

In prelude to the release of her forthcoming single – Stay Alive, Omawumi had a chat with Seun Apara where she spoke about sundry issues and the meaning of words and phrases off her most recent single.

Basically, the word ‘Kokoma’, what does it mean?

I came back from America with my daughter when she was about two and half months or three months. My mum was with me for about four months to take care of the baby. When my mum was with me, I used to sing ‘Omawumi’s baby, Grandma Warri’s baby, Grandma Lekki’s baby’, and so on. Kokoma is like a drum beat or dance style of highlife that could be related to Ghanaian highlife in the 60′s or 70′s. When my mum cooks, that’s what they sing- ‘kokoma, I stand by, Adebisi Konga’.

Why we want a total removal of fuel subsidy – President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday launched a fresh campaign for total removal of fuel subsidy.

This is coming barely a year after the president launched a similar campaign and forcefully removed subsidy with the price of petroleum product skyrocketing by more than 120 percent.

According to Jonathan, the total removal of subsidy on petroleum products would attract investors to the oil sector and put an end to the importation of petroleum products as it is currently being done.

His Excellency started the fresh campaign for a total removal of subsidy while receiving the report of the graduating participants of the Senior Executive Course 34, 2012, of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Miss Big World Nigeria pageant that took place last Saturday November 10th. 25yr old Olufemi Adu Felicia, a graduate of mass communication (pictured above left) was crowned the winner, while 27 year old  Emmanuella Egoigbo, (pictured above right) a graduate of law was first runner up. 19year old Chinaza Chimalu, a 400 level student of psychology at the University of Benin was 2nd runner up.

60 Nigerians Deported from UK over Contract Marriages, Visa Scams & other Criminal Offences

It is being reported that at least 60 Nigerians resident in the United Kingdom have been deported because of various criminal offences. While some of the deportees had contravened immigration rules, others were deported for their involvement in crimes such as rape, stealing, smoking and selling of hard drugs. Some were also deported because they  used fake visa or engaged in fake marriages.

Some of the deportees at the airport said they had lived in the UK for long but could not get residence permit. They narrated their experiences to PM News and gave reasons for their deportation.

Bathlomew Sunday, an indigene of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, said that he lived in UK for nine years but could not get residence permit. Sunday said he had to engage in a contract marriage to get the permit but was later caught by the British immigration, which deported him to Nigeria.

Goldie and Prezzo to wed secretly?

Rumours have been flying around and we can’t help but assume that Kenyan rapper Prezzo and Nigerian pop singer Goldie are in a relationship.

Sources are now claiming the celebrity pair are planning to tie the knot.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but we have information they may have already picked a date : Saturday, February 9, 2013.

Those who claim to be insiders allege Prezzo has visited Goldie’s parent’s residence in Lagos to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage. We could however, not immediately confirm this. And Goldie, who’s planning to release an ‘Africa Invasion’ album, insists she will no longer be commenting on her relationship with the Kenyan.

Nollywood actor, Pete Eneh, passes on

Veteran actor, Pete Eneh, famous for his ‘fatherly’ roles in Nollywood films, died on Thursday in Enugu State.

The actor who recently had one of his legs amputated by doctors at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital , otherwise called Park lane Hospital, on October 24, died in the same hospital.

Eneh’s death was confirmed by the Special Assistant to the state governor on Media, Afam Okereke, who is also an actor.

His travails began last year, after he sustained an injury that later led to a serious infection, thereby making treatment near impossible.

NA WA OOO - President Goodluck Jonathan Launches Fresh Campaign for Total Removal of Fuel Subsidy

Barely a year after a the forceful removal of fuel subsidy which almost brought the country to a standstill, President Goodluck Jonathan has launched a campaign to totally remove the subsidy on fuel saying it was the solution to incessant fuel scarcity in the country. He said the removal of fuel subsidy would attract investors to the oil sector who would build refineries in the country thereby putting an end to the importation of petroleum products as it is currently being done.

According to a Punch report, he noted that although the effect of the removal might be painful initially, Nigerians would be happier in the end.

“Why is it that people are not building refineries in Nigeria despite that it is a big business? It is because of the policy of subsidy, and that is why we want to get out of it. To change a nation is like surgery. If you have a young daughter of five years who has a boil at a very strategic part of the face, you either as a parent leave that boil because the young girl will cry or you take the girl to the surgeon. 

South Africa: Smuggler Swallowed 220 Diamond Worth $2.3m

South African police have arrested a man who they say swallowed 220 polished diamonds in an attempt to smuggle them out of the country.

The man was arrested as he waited to board a plane at Johannesburg airport.

Officials said a scan of his body revealed the diamonds he had ingested, worth $2.3m (£1.4m; 1.8m euros), inside.

The man was reportedly of Lebanese origin and was travelling to Dubai.

“We nabbed him just before he went through the security checkpoint,” Paul Ramaloko, spokesman of the South Africa elite police unit the Hawks said, according to Agence France Presse.

Authorities believe the man belongs to a smuggling ring. Another man was arrested in March also attempting to smuggle diamonds out the country in a similar way.
