Saudi Arabia detains 400 Nigerian female Hajj pilgrims, threatens to deport them
According to the report, the Saudis requested each female pilgrim to provide her muharram, that is, the approved male companion accompanying her on her trip, usually a husband, father or brother.
Those who could not produce any, the report said, were detained, with the authorities threatening to deport them back to Nigeria.
Daily Trust reports that the pilgrims arrived Jeddah in two separate Max Air flights Sunday afternoon.
One of the planes, it said, conveyed pilgrims from Jigawa State while the second had pilgrims from Sokoto State.
“The nearly 400 women were only allowed to be supplied with water and food by the Saudis after strenuous efforts by the Nigerian Consul in Jeddah and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Alhaji Nurudeen,” the paper said.
When Daily Trust contacted Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad, who is the Amirul Hajj , he condemned the action of the Saudi authorities, describing it as “an insult to Nigeria and to this country’s millions of Muslims.”
The Sultan reportedly said, “They never raised this issue and never demanded that the female pilgrims must have a muharram. They did not make this a requirement for issuing visas.

Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku have investigated the case of a 28-year-old lady, Ms Kemi Adeoye, who was arrested by policemen from Sanyo Division for stealing a baby in a church during a vigil service on Friday September 7, 2012.
The lady, according to police sources, had attended a church service on the fateful day and had picked a baby where she had been laid while her mother was praying in front of the altar.
After picking the baby, the lady had reportedly left for one of the chalets within the church premises and locked herself in, after she had put the baby on her back.

According to Sunday Express, efforts of the supposed bride were ended in a ghastly motor accident shortly after she left home in a convoy of exotic cars for her church wedding somewhere in Ikeja, Lagos.
Sunday Express gathered that the fatal accident that claimed the life of the bride happened on one of the major roads in Ikeja, in front of Tunde Motors.
“We were all shocked and terrified when we noticed a white Murano SUV decorated with an ‘About To Wed’ somersaulting that fateful Saturday morning. We didn’t know what actually caused the accident. But those who immediately rushed to the scene to rescue the survivors were shocked to find the bride dead. She died immediately the accident happened on the spot. In
fact, we were told that among the occupants of the car, she was the only one who died. They had to remove her wedding gown in order to be able to retrieve her body from the mangled car that was a complete wreck”, a close family member said.
FRSC shuts Lokoja-Abuja Road, lists alternative routes
The Federal Road Safety Commission on Monday morning advised travellers on Lokoja-Abuja Road to take alternative routes, as it enforced its closure of the vital road linking the Federal Capital Territory and parts of Northern Nigeria with the South.
FRSC said in a statement by the Deputy Corps Education Officer, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, that the road was shut after rising waters from the River Niger flooded the highway some days ago.
The statement also said FRSC had deployed more personnel in parts of the road, to forestall a gridlock and divert traffic to other routes.
The commission explained that it blocked the highway “for safety reasons,” as flood had rendered the route impassable.
“Consequent upon the blockade of Abuja-Lokoja higway, FRSC has released alternative routes as follows: vehicles coming from Lagos – Okene – Lokoja- Abuja should use Okene – Ajaokuta – Ayangba – Ankpa – Makurdi Lafiya- Akwanga- Abuja.
“Those coming from the South-East should use Otukpa – Makurdi route. The ones from Abuja to Lokoja should use Akwanga – Lafiya- Makurdi – Ankpa – Okene down to Lokoja with massive deployment of personnel to the alternative routes to ensure free flow of traffic,” the statement said.
Kazeem explained that the commission blocked the highway as the road was becoming impassable.
“Motorists advised to completely avoid the route and ply alternative routes for safety’ sake.
“FRSC took this action as a result of persistent flooding in the area that has entered the third day and as a result of its concern over the safety of road users plying d route.
“Massive deployments of staff have been undertaken to enforce the blockade. The cooperation of the motoring public on this highway is required for safety purposes.”

Meanwhile, Kasumu, a muslim cleric, denied the allegation and said she is wayward. Adeola informed the court that it just dawned on her that her husband cast love spell on her when they met about 12 years ago through a friend who took her to his house when her hairdressing business was not booming.
The applicant added that Kasumu helped her by doing a charm that made the business flourish and customers started trooping into her shop.
Two cousins caught having sex, paraded naked in Edo community
Ayibaba, who is said to be the son of a highly placed chief in the community, was said to have been caught in the immoral act with his first cousin, who is said to be married with three children.
However, luck ran out of them, when some community members caught them pants down, under a cashew tree. They were consequently dragged to the village square naked, while villagers thronged the square to have a glimpse of them.
Vanguard Newspaper gathered that Aishetu’s three children were in the crowd while their mother was being paraded before the public.
“We learnt that they have been involved in this immoral act for a long time now. They always go to the bush to have sex. So some members of our community followed them into the bush and immediately they started under the cashew tree, they were caught and handcuffed immediately,”
Vanguard Newspaper observed that the duo were finally taken to Ayibaba’s family house, where they met with the family.
