VIOLENCE: The Portharcourt 4 And Nigeria’s Mob Violent History!

Normal angry mob….

When I posted about the Aluu community killings, several people commented and expressed their disgust and sadness concerning the macabre act. But one person Glover Emmanuel, do not know if that’s his real name, did not say anything, he just posted a link, and when I clicked on it, I wept. Same mob action against a trio of suspected kidnappers/robbers, not armed. They were beaten mercilessly and thrown down from a bridge. The pictures are too graphic to put up. I shall post the link and you can all see. It’s on Nairaland, my favorite forum.
The point I’m making is that, the same evil was perpetrated against these men. Maybe they were guilty, maybe they weren’t, who knows. But they were beaten and bludgeoned to death and if you read the thread, *smh*, lots of people were happy with the ‘justice’ meted out to them and expressed delight.

So my question is this, was it right to treat those men like that? People were not so outraged, why? Because they were not cute? Or because didn’t look like they were from wealthy homes? Or were not students? Why? The problem with this issue which we still fail to realize is that the problem is not just that they were innocent, or did not commit any crime, it is that ideally, our society should be that which does not permit this sort of primitive and savagely cruel deeds. It should be so far removed from the consciousness of our minds, that it wouldn’t even occur to us. Let us focus on that one sole goal, please people…..click on link below to see.
