MBGN 2012 Isabella Agbor Ayuk set to launch the Vanessa Manyor Memorial Foundation in Abuja

Though her crowning and reign as the 2012 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria has been controversial, Isabella Ayuk is intent on using her position positively.
All is now set for the official launch of the Vanessa Manyor Memorial Foundation (VMMF) in Abuja . The event billed to take place on Saturday is put together by the current Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Isabella Agbor Ayuk.
VMMF was founded by Isabella in memory of her sister who died of typhoid fever and she therefore intends to use it to campaign against typhoid fever.
Already in her capacity as MBGN, Ayuk has undertaken projects that include scholarships to students, donation of medical equipment to hospitals, distribution of free typhoid vaccines to refugee camps, renovation of some primary schools and houses belonging to widows.
Speaking about VMMF, she said, “My sister died of typhoid fever and VMMF has been campaigning and will continue to campaign against it. VMMF will also continue to empower widows as my mother is a widow and widows are always in need of widow’s mite…VMMF is all about caring for, supporting and protecting the lives of citizens living in the rural communities of Nigeria against the spread of typhoid fever, malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, opportunistic infections and improvement of rural health through behavioural change communication strategies, voluntary confidential counselling and testing (VCCT) as well as condom and drugs distribution.

What Are The Signs That Show You Need To Move On?

Ahhhhh……The signs! Wait signs? What signs? Are there signs? I hear you ask…… Oh, there are signs alright, but you need to be savvy enough. Think of a relationship as a business, you need to invest, maintain and communicate. If you’re not doing all three of these things or at least two out of three, the relationship suffers. FACT!
We invest in unlikely and frankly unintelligent relationships for the sake of it getting ‘better’ or even funnier, that we can ‘change’ the person. Because suddenly we are mini-gods and able to change anyone or anything at a whim. Ha!
You knew who the person was before you entered the relationship, (I hope) now unless this person requested that they would love to change their persona just for you, then you must be one lucky and very unique person but however, unfortunately the rest of us are not exceptions to that rule.
Now imagine you go out to eat at a restaurant, the food is awful, you go there the week after nothing has changed. Would you really go back there again? No, yet the amount of people I know that go back in damaging relationships because of the word, I think that gets passed around much too often ‘Love’ as an excuse.

Why I invited Aki, Paw Paw to meet flood victims – Uduaghan

ASABA—DELTA State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, said Monday, that he invited popular Nollywood actors, Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme, popularly known as Aki and Paw Paw, to visit flood victims in the state as motivational speakers to alleviate the pains of the internally displaced persons.
Aki and Paw Paw were first noticed by some persons at the inauguration of the 12-man committee on the management of Federal Government fund released to the state over the flood disaster and the Post-Flooding Rehabilitation of Victims, headed by a retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Francis Tabai, at Government House, Asaba, by Governor Uduaghan.
They were conspicuous in their attire and size and that attracted the crowd, which went hysterical.
Governor Uduaghan, who painted a sorrowful picture of the pains the internally displaced persons, IDPs, were going through, having been sacked from their homes by flood, said everybody who knew how to ease pains should help to ease the pains of the victims.

Hurricane Sandy may affect 60 million in US — CNN

Hurricane Sandy’s outer bands pummeled the East Coast on Monday with howling winds, torrential downpours and storm surges that authorities warned could bring widespread devastation.
“This is the most catastrophic event that we have faced and been able to plan for in any of our lifetimes,” Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy said.
The storm’s centre was expected to make landfall by early evening along or just south of the southern New Jersey coast.
An expected storm surge at midnight could raise water levels to 11 feet above normal high tide, bringing “the potential to cause unprecedented damage.”
By Monday afternoon, more than 765,000 electric customers in seven states had already lost power.
Hundreds of thousands of people had abandoned their homes and apartments. New York City landmarks were eerily empty. The nation’s capital was emptied of government workers.
Forecasters said Sandy’s collision with a cold front once it makes landfall could create a “superstorm” that could generate flash floods, snowstorms and power outages from North Carolina to Maine.
The National Grid, which provides power to millions of customers, said 60 million people could be affected.
“It could be bad,” said U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Steven Rattior, “or it could be devastation.”
The predicted impact extends beyond the East Coast. Wave heights in Lake Michigan could reach 28 feet Monday night and 31 feet by Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
This is coming eight days before Election Day, with the presidential candidates locked in a tight race, President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, altered or canceled planned campaign events because of the storm.
Obama returned on Monday from Florida to Washington, where he told reporters at the White House that assets were in place for an effective response.
He urged those in the path of the storm to heed warnings and other instructions.
“The most important message I have for the public right now is please listen to what your state and local officials are saying,” Obama said. “When they tell you to evacuate, you need to evacuate.”
Obama said he was not worried about how the storm might affect the election.
