Honourable Bitrus Kaze who duly represents Jos East and Jos South federal constituency, Plateau State, has stated that President Jonathan should be impeached with immediate effect since National Assembly, had with time, gathered enough reasons to unseat him apart from the non-implementation of budget.
Kaze argued that the house should have taken up the issues of Jonathan’s failure of leadership, insecurity of lives and property and lack of development in all the sectors as part of the major reasons for his impeachment and not just about the poor implementation of budget.
His word: “In my view, we have better reasons to institute impeachment against Mr. President. My own reason being that a president that cannot secure the lives and property of the citizens, that cannot build good roads that cannot provide electricity and water cannot continue to be president.”
He insisted that any leader with inability to secure the lives and properties of his citizens is not worthy staying in office.
He voiced his conviction thus: “Not just in Plateau state, but elsewhere, people have been killed in droves and we continue to hear of people being killed everyday and we are behaving as if nothing is happening.
“To me, I believe that we have more than one reason to impeach Jonathan. As a leader, the president has failed in many aspects that we should impeach him.
Honourable Kaze totally disagreed with his colleagues hammering on the 100 percent implementation of the budget claiming, it wasn’t genuine enough to warrant the President’s impeachment because there was no way the budget could be implemented 100 per cent.
“Remember that the budget is the product of an Appropriation Act and I know that the Act has provisions for amendment. If you can amend a law, it means that that law is not perfect and a law that is not perfect cannot be implemented 100 per cent.”
