Nollywood actor Osuofia battles with widow over land

A secondary school teacher, Mrs. Gloria Ayogu, said she would consider legal actions against Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, if he failed to pay damages for allegedly demolishing her house in Enugu State.
Ayogu, a widow and an employee of Federal Government College, Enugu, has since 2008 been at war with Owoh over a piece of land at 9, Ikpeama Street, Emeheluaku Layout, Trans-Ekulu in Enugu metropolis.
The widow said she had long reported the case to the police and vowed to see the matter to the end.
She said her late husband bought and registered the landed property before he died in 2004.
She claimed,
“Osuofia and his thugs appeared in 2008 and threatened me for four years against building on the land.”

Lagos Police bans vigilante groups from carrying arms

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko yesterday said it is a criminal offence for members of vigilante groups to carry rifles. Manko’s reaction may not be unconnected with the killing of four undergraduate students of the University of Port Harcourt by suspected members of a vigilante group at the instance of their village head. The Lagos State police boss said vigilante groups are supposed to work with the police at the local level.
“They can arrest suspects and hand them over to the police whose responsibility it is to investigate and prosecute if the need arises. It is a criminal offence for members of the vigilante to carry guns,” he maintained.
Manko said anyone seen with a gun must have a valid license for it and such individual must have been duly screened by the appropriate authorities. “So it is a crime for one to have a privately licensed gun and in turn hand over same to vigilante group for security purposes,” he said.
Manko explained that if a vigilante member is arrested with a rifle issued to him by another person they will be arrested for illegal possession of fire arms. He noted that members of the vigilante are there to complement efforts of the police, not to usurp the responsibility of the police. It will be recalled that four undergraduate students of the University of Port Harcourt were gruesomely killed by suspected members of a vigilante group at Aluu community in Rivers State. The Inspector General of Police has vowed to fish out the killers, saying such barbaric act cannot be tolerated in any part of the country.

Osun State Speaker’s Wife Rescued, Vigilante Group Tipped By Palm Wine Tapper!

Osun state speaker, Najeem Salaam whose wife, Alhaja Muibat Salaam was kidnapped last tuesday in Ejigbo, October 9, has finally been rescued. I say rescue because there wasn’t any ransom paid. It was a lucky tip-off by a palm tapper that led to her release.

A family source said: “A palm wine tapper on top of a palm tree noticed the kidnappers, who were between 28 and 40 years old, with a lone woman in the back cabin of the trailer. He alerted a vigilance group and they accosted the kidnappers. An argument ensued and resulted in a gun battle between the kidnappers and members of the vigilance group.
“Two of the kidnappers were killed. Three were apprehended, but the rest escaped. Alhaja was rescued unhurt. A towing vehicle operator in the village phoned a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and notified him of the development.

Dr SID Addresses His Leaked Conversation With Davido

Over the weekend, a conversation between Davido, & Dr SID, and a few others (Kamal, Godfather & B-Red) leaked on the internet, and Dr SID went on record as saying Dbanj’s brand is over shadowing his shine. Full post here
Today Dr. SID decided to give his side of the story via his twitter page.
I had a PRIVATE conversation with people I trusted (Kamal, Dbanjs’ associate Evil, Godfather, Davido, B-Red).I’m entitled to my opinion and its unfortunate that this happened. Sadly, someone chose to record this private conversation and release it to the public, However, this has taught me a valuable lesson on who to and not to speak with, but life must goes on.
It’s a very interesting development. Since the split betweent Don Jazzy & Dbanj, a lot of stories have been floating around as to why the break up happened. This might be some insight.

Cracking my ribs with laughter - Chris Ihidero Unedited: Before you marry an Igbo woman…

Dear Friend,
Greetings. I hear you have found a lovely woman you wish to spend the rest of your life with. I hear she is Igbo.  Congratulations. Before you go ahead, however, please permit me to say a few things concerning marrying an Igbo woman. I know unsolicited advice is as unwanted as armpit boils, but do spare me a second or two; this is important. See, I know you think the bride price you’ve been told to pay and the long list of traditional marriage items are your biggest issues…trust me, they are nothing compared with what you will face after the ceremonies have been completed and every member of her village has gone home with his/her share of the booty for which you mortgaged your father’s properties.
Now, take note of the following, dear friend:
1. Forget Authority: If you were marrying a Yoruba woman, she would have come to your house with her mother’s voice ringing in her ears that a husband’s house is a place where life’s lessons are learnt. It’s a different story for the Igbo woman. She comes from a long line of ‘unruly’ people who traditionally have no concept of a central authority figure.  Prepare to be stared down eyeball to eyeball in an argument. Prepare to be laughed at when you attempt to assert yourself as the ‘man of the house.’ When she’s done laughing, she’ll measure you, up and down with her left, and sneer: ‘Hian! See this one o; who do you think you’re talking to?’ She’ll clap and shake her head, then she’ll add something in Igbo and then saunter away, wriggling her backside.  It isn’t for nothing that the legendary Aba Womens’ Riot happened in…ABA.
