West African lion virtually extinct, with just 34 left in Nigeria – Report

The west African lion is on the verge of extinction, according to experts after a marked decline in recent years.
It is estimated there are just 645 genetically distinct wild lions left in western and central Africa, with as few as 34 remaining in the whole of Nigeria.
Now experts from conservation group LionAid say they are ‘in real danger of extinction’.
According to the group, there are no lions left in 25 African countries and populations are barely surviving in ten.

We’ve probably heard a million and one different stories about Yvonne Nelson‘s relationship status, but the Ghanaian actress has now set the record straight.
She says she is NOT in a relationship at the moment. Nelson announced her ‘single status’ on twitter.
In the last few months, she’s been linked with popular Nigerian singer Iyanya, who was rumoured to have ended the ‘supposed’ relationship. Some people are however of the opinion that that whole drama was a planned publicity stunt for the ‘Kukere’ singer and other players.
Anyways, the actress’ current status should interest suitors as the Ghanian beauty has declared she is NOT in any relationship now…

It’s official; as we broke the exclusive last week, Nollywood actress Funke Akindele-Oloyede has signed a major endorsement dealwith Nigeria’s top jobs search website Jobberman.
Yesterday, the 36-year-old actress-producer met up with Jobberman founders Opeyemi Awoyemi, Ayodeji Adewunmi and Olalekan Olude at the company’s office in Lekki, Lagos.
Akindele is expected to appear in TV commercials and record radio ads. She will also make appearances at her Jenifa Foundation as well as Jobberman events.

Keshi releases Super Eagles’ final list,drops Dike and Lawal

The much anticipated Super Eagles list for the 2013 Nations Cup,has been released by coach Stephen Keshi,minutes to the deadline for submission stipulated by Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Keshi made good his promise of taking players from the Nigeria Premier League(NPL)as he has six homebased players in his final squad.
Surprisingly there was no place for Bright Dike,who netted the fantastic equaliser against Catalonia on January 2nd,and also Raheem Lawal was dropped from the team.

Former Italy international Gennaro Gattuso has denied his country have a problem with racism in football.
AC Milan playmaker Kevin-Prince Boateng walked off the pitch in a friendly match against Pro Patria last week after being subjected to racial taunting from sections of the home crowd.
But former AC Milan midfielder Gattuso says the problem is not as widespread as it is being portrayed and believes the Pro Patria incident was down to the action of just a handful of young men.
“The case of racism in Busto Arsizio (where Pro Patria play), (it was) four boys (who were responsible),” he told Sky Sport 24.

No fewer than five goats were yesterday arrested at Dele-Yesa area in Osogbo, the Osun State capital by officials of the state Waste Management Agency (OWMA) for allegedly violating environmental laws. The state Coordinator of the agency, Mr. Henry Ogunbanwo said the goats would be charged to court by the agency and would be prosecuted in accordance with the laws guiding environmental protection in the state.

He said the state government had issued notice of warning to all residents of the state capital on the need to monitor their domestic animals to avoid public disturbance by the animals, which, he said, was against the environmental laws. Ogunbanwo disclosed that the five goats arrested were detained at the office of the agency in Osogbo from where they would be taken to court for prosecution.
